Summary
The New India Assurance Company filed a first appeal against the award of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Ahmednagar, in a motor accident claim. The company subsequently accepted the Tribunal's award, deposited the compensation amount with the court registry, and filed a withdrawal pursis dated 25 March 2026. The appellant sought condonation of delay in filing the appeal and requested that the appeal be withdrawn and the award be drawn up accordingly. The Special Lok Adalat, after considering the withdrawal request and the appellant’s compliance with the award, condoned the delay and ordered the appeal to be disposed of. Consequently, the appeal and any pending civil applications were dismissed, and the court directed that the compensation be paid to the claimants with accrued interest, and that court fees be refunded as per law.
