Holding

The court condoned the 267‑day delay and disposed of the civil applications.

Summary

The State of Maharashtra, represented by the District Collector of Latur, filed civil applications seeking condonation of a 267‑day delay in filing appeals, citing administrative reasons. The court examined the applications and, finding the explanation satisfactory, ordered that the delay be condoned and the applications disposed of, with the appeal to be registered after removal of office objections. In a separate application, the Assistant Government Pleader requested a short accommodation to ensure that a monetary amount ordered on 10‑03‑2026 is deposited; the court directed that if the amount is not deposited by the next date, an affidavit explaining the reasons must be filed. The matter was stood over to 30‑07‑2026. No substantive legal disputes were raised beyond the procedural issues of delay condonation and compliance with the deposit order.

Issues considered

  • Whether a delay of 267 days in filing appeals can be condoned under the Civil Procedure Code.
