Summary

The respondent, Eicore Technologies Private Limited, raised no objection to the extension. The court noted that the arbitration was at the cross‑examination stage, indicating substantial progress and satisfaction of the requirement under Section 29A(5). It held that extending the time would best serve the interests of justice. 1. This is the Petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and

Conciliation Act, 1996, and seeks an extension of the mandate of the Arbitral

Tribunal to complete the arbitration proceedings and pass an arbitral award.

                2. There is no objection to the time being extended.

                3. I am informed that the arbitration proceedings are at the stage of cross-

examination, therefore I am satisfied that substantial progress has been made in

the arbitration proceedings. The mandate of Section 29A(5) has been met. In my

view, the substantive interest of justice would best be served if the time is

                extended.

                4. The Tribunal shall endeavour to complete the arbitration proceedings

within a extended period of time, for which purpose both parties are directed to

5. Accordingly, the Petition is allowed.
