The court held that the withdrawal of the first appeals, together with condonation of delay, is permissible and results in the disposal of the appeals and related civil applications.
Summary
The Special Lok Adalat of the Aurangabad Bench of the High Court heard a batch of first appeals filed by New India Assurance Company Limited relating to motor accident claim petitions. The appellant submitted withdrawal letters and authority letters dated 25‑03‑2026, which the court accepted and recorded as exhibits. The court condoned the delay in filing the appeals and ordered that the compensation amounts already deposited with the court registry be released to the claimants with accrued interest, as per the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal directions. Consequently, all the first appeals and any pending civil applications were disposed of. The court also directed the insurer to inform claimants of the withdrawal and to process refunds of court fees in accordance with law.

- Whether a withdrawal of appeal filed after a delay can be accepted by the Special Lok Adalat.
