The interim order granting anticipatory bail is continued until the next date of hearing, subject to the condition that the applicant does not seek further adjournments.

Summary

The applicant, Mohammed Sadique Qureshi, filed an interim application seeking continuation of an interim order granting anticipatory bail, originally dated 21 May 2025 and repeatedly extended up to 9 April 2026. He alleged a procedural lapse when the matter was not listed on the board on 9 April but was listed on 10 April, and requested that the order remain in force despite the oversight. The State, through the Public Prosecutor, agreed that the interim order could be continued but only until the next hearing, imposing a condition that the applicant must not seek further adjournments or the order would be vacated. The applicant’s counsel assured the court that no further adjournments would be sought and that he was ready for arguments. The court, finding no prejudice and in the interest of justice, ordered that the interim order be continued until the next date of hearing and disposed of the interim application, also fixing a date for the main anticipatory bail application.
