Bombay High Court

RANJIT LAXMAN TANPUREversusINTELLIGENCE OFFICER AND ANR

Decided
Disposal
Allowed

Holding

The court allowed the modification of the bail reporting condition, directing the applicant to report to the police station every Saturday and to the DRI once every three months on trial dates.

Summary

The applicant, Ranjit Laxman Tanpure, filed an interim application seeking relaxation of the reporting conditions imposed on his bail. The original order required him to report to the DRI Mumbai once a month, which was later modified to reporting on trial dates. Observing that a co‑accused was permitted to report only once every three months, the applicant argued for a similar schedule. The court noted the applicant’s compliance with both the original and modified conditions and considered the principle of equal treatment among co‑accused. Accordingly, the court modified the bail condition, directing the applicant to report to Kurundwad Police Station every Saturday and to the DRI once every three months on trial dates. The interim application was allowed and disposed.
