The High Court directed the trial court to decide the civil suit within six months and disposed of the writ petition.

Summary

The petitioners filed a writ petition under Article 226 challenging the delay in the trial of Regular Civil Suit No.110 of 2017, which was pending for several years. The petition arose from an order dated 11.12.2019 of the District Judge and sought a direction for the trial court to decide the suit within a stipulated period. Both parties jointly requested the High Court to intervene to ensure timely disposal, as the suit was at the stage of recording evidence. The Bench, after noting the pendency and the joint request, exercised its supervisory jurisdiction and directed the trial court to render a decision within six months from the date of the order. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of, with the direction remaining open for further compliance.
