The Court directed the Deputy Director of Education, Nashik to decide the proposal within six weeks, thereby imposing a specific time limit.
Summary
The petitioner, Jayshree Suresh Adgale, filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the Deputy Director of Education, Nashik Division, to decide a proposal dated 20-12-2024 submitted by the Education Officer (Secondary), Zilla Parishad, Nandurbar. The respondent's Additional Government Pleader, on behalf of the Deputy Director, waived notice and undertook to decide the proposal within eight weeks. The Court examined whether it could impose a specific time frame on an administrative authority for decision-making. Considering the undertaking and the need to prevent undue delay, the Court directed the Deputy Director to decide the proposal within six weeks from the date of the order. The petition was disposed with this direction, and no further relief was granted.
