NAVNEET RAGHUNATH KUMARversusSTATE OF MAHARASHTRA AND ORS

Decided

Holding

The petition was disposed of as not pressed, based on the respondent’s statement that the investigation would be conducted expeditiously.

Summary

The petitioner filed a criminal writ petition seeking court directions to expedite the investigation of C.R.No.1474 of 2025 registered at Bandra police station. The respondent State argued that the accused is residing in the USA, making a swift investigation difficult, and that a Letter of Credit (LOC) is being initiated against the accused. The court acknowledged the genuine difficulty but recorded the respondent’s assurance that the investigating agency would take expeditious steps. Relying on this assurance, the petitioner chose not to press the petition further. Consequently, the court disposed of the petition as not pressed, without ordering any specific investigative timeline.
