The court ordered the petitioner to pay Rs.10,00,000 to the widow and held that no further claims could be made by the heirs, thereby modifying the earlier labour court orders.

Summary

Ceat Ltd. filed a writ petition challenging orders of the Labour and Industrial Courts concerning compensation to the legal heirs of a deceased employee, Dayaram K. Yadav. The parties negotiated an amicable settlement whereby Ceat Ltd. agreed to pay a lump‑sum sum of Rs.10,00,000 to the widow, Smt. Seetadevi Dayaram Yadav, which was accepted by the heirs. The court, noting the settlement, directed the petitioner to make the payment within two weeks and barred the respondents from claiming any further amounts for services rendered by the deceased. Consequently, the earlier orders of the Labour and Industrial Courts were modified in accordance with the settlement. The writ petition was disposed of on the basis of the parties' agreement.
