Holding

The Court directed the Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies to decide the pending applications expeditiously, preferably within four weeks.

Summary

The petitioners, Ammani Rajadavid and others, filed a writ petition before the Bombay High Court seeking directions to the Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies (SRA) to decide three pending applications dated 28 October 2024, 7 December 2025 and 16 February 2026. The Court, after hearing counsel for both parties, found that the matter required a prompt administrative decision and ordered the SRA to dispose of the applications as expeditiously as possible, preferably within four weeks of the order. All contentions were kept open, and no substantive merits were adjudicated. The petition was subsequently disposed of. The order essentially directs administrative compliance rather than substantive judicial determination.
