VISHAL RAMESH TALOSKAR AND ANRversusSTATE OF MAHARASHTRA AND ANR

The Court held that typographical errors in a judicial order may be corrected to reflect the true intention of the original order.

Summary

Petitioners Vishal Ramesh Taloskar and others filed a writ petition seeking correction of typographical errors in the order dated 25.06.2026, which mistakenly referred to "R.C.C. No. 158 of 2029" instead of the correct "R.C.C. No. 158 of 2019". The petitioners highlighted the errors in specific paragraphs and lines of the order. Respondent No.2 and the State of Maharashtra did not oppose the correction. The Court examined whether a typographical mistake in a judicial order could be rectified without a fresh hearing. Finding no substantive prejudice and noting the parties' consent, the Court allowed the correction. The order was accordingly amended and the praecipe was disposed of.
