Holding
The writ petition is dismissed for want of prosecution.
Summary
The writ petition, originally filed in 1996 by Smt. Bansadevi, remained pending in the Bombay High Court for decades. The Court's Case Information System indicated the matter as pending, but the Registry could not locate any records of the proceedings. On 29 September 2025, the Registry issued a notice on its website asking the counsel of the parties to confirm whether the petition was still pending or disposed and to provide a copy of the petition if it was pending. No response was received from any counsel. Consequently, the Court held that the petition was infructuous due to lack of prosecution and dismissed it for want of prosecution.
