Holding

The High Court may direct the respondent to decide the representation within eight weeks, treating the respondent's undertaking as binding.

Summary

The petitioners filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the State of Maharashtra, respondent No.2, to decide the petitioners' representation dated 29 July 2025 within the stipulated period. The respondent's Additional Government Pleader (AGP) waived notice and, on behalf of respondent No.2, undertook to decide the representation within eight weeks from the date of the order. The Court treated this undertaking as a binding commitment and issued directions accordingly. No substantive merits of the representation were considered; the order was limited to procedural compliance. Consequently, the Court disposed of the writ petition by directing respondent No.2 to decide the representation within eight weeks.
