BHAGWAN LIMBAJI SURWASEversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The writ petition was dismissed for want of prosecution and the accompanying civil application was also dismissed.

Summary

Bhagwan Limbaji Surwase filed a writ petition in 2020 challenging actions of the State of Maharashtra. The petition remained pending for several years, and the petitioner failed to appear at multiple hearings in March 2026. The Court, noting the petitioner's lack of interest and repeated non‑appearance, dismissed the writ petition for want of prosecution. Consequently, the related civil application filed alongside the writ petition was also ordered to be dismissed as it could not survive the disposal of the writ. No substantive merits of the petition were addressed due to procedural default.
