A tribunal's decision made without prior notice to the parties contravenes natural justice and must be set aside.
Summary
The petitioner, Hanumant Vittalrao Patil, challenged a decision of the Maharashtra Revenue Tribunal that was rendered on 22 February 2017 without any prior notice to the parties, despite the matter being kept in abeyance after a revision was called on 23 November 2016. The petitioner argued that the lack of notice violated the principles of natural justice. The High Court, after considering the submissions, allowed the writ petition in part, quashing the Tribunal's order dated 22 February 2017 and the earlier order of the Deputy Collector dated 10 February 2015. The Court restored the pending revision (No. 14/B/2015/O) to the Tribunal's file and directed the authority to decide the matter on its merits within six months, free from the influence of this judgment. The decision underscores the requirement of prior notice and fair hearing before administrative bodies can pass orders affecting parties' rights.
Issues considered

either the petitioner or the respondents.
2. In view of the above grounds, I am inclined to allow the
writ petition partly.
3. Hence, the writ petition is allowed. The order passed by the
