Allahabad High Court

RITESH YADAVversusSTATE OF U.P.

Decided

Holding

The High Court ordered the trial court to decide the pending criminal case within six months, subject to the absence of legal hurdles.

Summary

The applicant, Ritesh Yadav, filed an application under Section 529 of the Criminal Procedure Code seeking an expeditious disposal of a pending Session trial (Case No. 646 of 2025) in which he is charged under Section 307 IPC. He argued that the pending case adversely affected his police verification for employment with the Indian Army and the Chandigarh High Court. The State, represented by the Additional Government Advocate, raised no objection to an expedited trial. The High Court, noting the prolonged pendency, directed the trial court to endeavor to conclude the case within six months of the order, provided there are no legal impediments. The application was therefore disposed with a directive for speedy trial.
