Allahabad High Court

SMT. REENA SINGHversusSTATE OF UTTAR PRADESH AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court orders the Sub‑Divisional Officer to decide the petitioner's appointment within two weeks and to issue the appointment letter if no legal impediment exists.

Summary

Petitioner Smt. Reena Singh was selected for the post of Anganwadi Karyakatri on 11 March 2025, but her domicile certificate was subsequently cancelled. She filed a writ petition (Writ C No.20322 of 2025) which was disposed on 25 July 2025. A subsequent letter dated 23 December 2025 from the Additional District Magistrate to the Sub‑Divisional Officer (respondent no.4) sought a decision on her appointment, but no action was taken, causing her irreparable loss. The respondent argued that a decision would be taken expeditiously. The High Court, after hearing both sides, directed the Sub‑Divisional Officer to decide the matter within two weeks and, if no legal impediment exists, to issue the appointment letter without further delay. The petition was thus disposed with specific directions to the respondent.
