Holding
The court held that the competent authority must decide the pending compassionate appointment within two months of the certified copy being produced.
Summary
The petitioner, Smt Meena, filed a writ petition seeking direction for her appointment on compassionate grounds, which was pending before the authorities without any decision. The petitioners argued that the delay violated their right to a timely appointment. The court examined the pending status and noted the absence of any decision by the competent authority. It held that the authority must act promptly to avoid undue hardship to the petitioner. Consequently, the court disposed of the petition, directing the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sambhal, to decide the matter within two months of receiving the certified copy.
