The Court directed the Settlement Officer to decide the appeal expeditiously within three months of service of the order.
Summary
The petitioners filed a writ petition before the Allahabad High Court seeking a direction to the Settlement Officer of Consolidation, Rampur, to decide Appeal No. 343 of 2025, which had been pending since 2025. The petition relied on Section 11(1) of the CH Act, contending that the delay violated the ends of justice. The respondents, represented by the State’s standing counsel, raised no objection to the prayer. The Court examined whether it could issue a mandatory time‑bound direction under the said provision. Finding that expeditious disposal was warranted, the Court ordered the Settlement Officer to decide the appeal within three months of service of the order. Accordingly, the writ petition was disposed of by directing the said action.
