Allahabad High Court

SONUversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 18 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court held that, in view of the State’s submission that no police harassment occurred, there was no basis to issue a mandamus and the petition was disposed.

Summary

Petitioner Sonu filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the State authorities to decide a representation dated 03‑04‑2026 and to protect his life, alleging police harassment. The State, through its standing counsel, submitted that no harassment had occurred and that the petitioner’s allegations were false and baseless. The Court examined the State’s submission, found no merit in the petitioner’s claim, and concluded that no further order was necessary. Consequently, the petition was disposed without granting any relief. The decision was delivered by Judges Saral Srivastava and Garima Prashad on 12 May 2026.
