Allahabad High Court

SMT SHALONI AND ANOTHERversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The petition was dismissed as it was not pressed.

Summary

The petitioners, Smt Shaloni and another, filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the State of U.P. and others not to harass or interfere with their peaceful marital life. It was admitted that petitioner No.1 was in a live-in relationship with petitioner No.2, without any decree of divorce, and that a marriage had taken place in 2009 with respondent No.4. During the hearing, the petitioners' counsel, Rama Pati Tripathi, decided not to pursue the petition further. Consequently, the Court dismissed the petition on the ground that it was not pressed. No substantive merits were examined, and the case was closed without any order on the merits.
