Holding

The court allowed the bail application, directing the petitioner’s release on regular bail upon furnishing the prescribed bond and sureties.

Summary

Sipahi Ray, a resident of Baramahpur, was arrested on 24 November 2025 in connection with offences under Section 30(a) of the Excise Act. An earlier bail application was dismissed as withdrawn, with the court allowing a fresh application after the charges were framed on 25 February 2026. The petitioner, represented by Mr. Suraj Kumar, sought regular bail, asserting he would not abscond and would cooperate with the trial. The State, represented by Mr. Ganesh Prasad Singh, opposed the bail. The High Court, after considering the submissions, ordered the petitioner’s release on regular bail upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs 5,000 and two sureties of the same amount, to the satisfaction of the trial court. The bail application was therefore allowed.
