UTTAM KARBHARI GOLWADversusS D GOLAIT AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The Court held that the Scrutiny Committee must decide the pending tribe claim within eight weeks, thereby disposing of the contempt petition.

Summary

The petitioner, Uttam Karbhari Golwad, filed a contempt petition alleging that the Scrutiny Committee, Nashik, had unduly delayed deciding his tribe claim. No counsel appeared for the petitioner. The State, represented by the Additional Government Pleader, informed the Court that the claim was still pending and would be decided within eight weeks as per instructions from the Committee’s Law Officer. The Court recorded this statement as an undertaking and directed the Committee to render its decision within eight weeks from the date of the order. Consequently, the contempt petition was disposed of, with the Court’s direction serving as the remedy for the alleged contempt.
