The Court directed the Scrutiny Committee to decide the petitioner's Scheduled Tribe claim within two months, thereby disposing of the writ petition.
Summary
The petitioner, Prathmesh Prashantkumar Pawar, a student, filed a writ petition seeking a direction for the prompt determination of his claim that he belongs to the 'Tokre Koli' Scheduled Tribe. He argued that a swift decision is essential for his higher education plans. The Court, after hearing counsel, directed the Scrutiny Committee (Respondent No.2) to decide the tribe claim as expeditiously as possible, specifying a maximum period of two months from the date of the order. No substantive discussion on the merits of the claim was made; the order was purely procedural. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of following the direction.
