The Court ordered that the Scrutiny Committee decide the petitioner’s Scheduled Tribe claim within three months of the order.
Summary
Petitioner Kailas Sundarrao Sudewad filed a writ petition seeking a direction that his claim of belonging to the Mannervarlu Scheduled Tribe be decided promptly, arguing that the lack of a validity certificate was preventing his promotion. The petitioner contended that the Scrutiny Committee had not yet ruled on his tribal status since the claim was submitted on 28‑10‑2013. The State of Maharashtra, through its AGP, submitted that the claim would be decided within three months of the Court's order. The Court, noting the petitioner's grievance of potential prejudice to his promotion, directed the Scrutiny Committee to determine his Scheduled Tribe status within three months from the date of the order. Accordingly, the writ petition was disposed.
