TRIMURTI SHIKSHAN PRASARAK MANDALS TRIMURTI INSTITUTE OF PHARMACY THROUGH ITS AUTHORIZED S P PATILversusTHE ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION NEW DELHI AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The Pharmacy Council of India has supremacy over AICTE with respect to pharmacy colleges and admissions, and the writ petitions are dismissed as infructuous.

Summary

Four writ petitions filed in 2016 challenged the jurisdiction of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) over pharmacy colleges, seeking relief regarding admissions and regulatory authority. The petitioners argued that the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) should have supremacy over AICTE in matters concerning pharmacy education. The Court observed that the issue had already been settled by a prior decision granting the PCI supremacy and that the PCI had regularized admissions for the 2016‑2017 academic year. Consequently, the petitions were deemed infructuous. The Court disposed of all writ petitions without granting any relief.
