Allahabad High Court
RANVEERversusSTATE OF U.P.
- Decided
- Bench
- KRISHAN PAHAL
Holding
Bail was granted to Ranveer subject to a personal bond, two sureties, and conditions of non‑tampering with evidence, non‑intimidation of witnesses, and regular appearance before the trial court.
Summary
Ranveer applied for bail in a criminal case (Crime No.138 of 2024) involving offences under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120‑B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66‑D of the Information Technology Act. The court noted that a co‑accused, Mufeed, had already been granted bail in a similar matter and that Ranveer had no prior criminal record. Considering these facts, the submissions of counsel, and the principle of parity, the court found that Ranveer had made out a case for bail. Bail was therefore granted on the condition of a personal bond, two sureties, and undertakings not to tamper with evidence, intimidate witnesses, or fail to appear before the trial court. The order emphasized that any breach of conditions would lead to cancellation of bail and would not affect the trial on merits.
Issues considered
- Whether bail should be granted to the accused Ranveer during the pendency of trial for the offences alleged under the IPC and IT Act.
- Whether the principle of parity with a co‑accused who was previously released on bail warrants granting bail in the present case.
