Allahabad High Court
RANJEETversusSTATE OF U.P.

Holding
The court granted bail to the applicant without expressing an opinion on the merits of the case.
Summary
Ranjeet applied for bail in a criminal case (Crime No. 152 of 2026) filed under Sections 2 and 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. He alleged that his inclusion in a gang chart was false and that he had already been granted bail in a related case, yet he had been detained since 17 February 2026. Counsel for the applicant, Amit Singh, argued that the applicant would not misuse liberty and would cooperate with the trial, while the State, represented by G.A. and A.G.A. V.K.S. Parmar, opposed the bail. The court, without delving into the merits of the allegations, decided to grant bail subject to a personal bond and two sureties, imposing conditions against tampering with evidence or intimidating witnesses. The order stipulated that any breach of conditions would lead to cancellation of bail and clarified that the bail decision does not affect the substantive trial. The bail was ordered to be released on September 14, 2026.
