Allahabad High Court

CHAHAT RAMversusSMT MEDHA RUPAM AND ANOTHER

Decided

Holding

The Court held that while a prima facie case of contempt existed, it would grant the opposite parties additional time to comply before proceeding further.

Summary

The applicant, Chahat Ram, filed a contempt application alleging that the opposite parties, Smt Medha Rupam and another, willfully disobeyed the High Court's order dated 18‑02‑2026 in Civil Misc. Writ Petition No. 5274 of 2026. The order had been served on 23‑02‑2026, but compliance had not been achieved. The Court observed that a prima facie case of contempt existed but, without issuing a notice, granted the opposite parties an additional three months to comply. The Court directed the applicant to provide stamped envelopes for service of the order and contempt application, and stipulated that the opposite parties must comply and inform the applicant within a week thereafter. If compliance fails, the applicant may approach the Court again. The contempt application was therefore disposed of at this stage.
