Allahabad High Court

LAKHAN SINGHversusMR. RAJIV SHUKLA

Decided

Holding

The court held that no contempt exists where the applicant's license has been restored and he is duly operating the fair price shop.

Summary

The High Court of Allahabad considered a contempt application filed by Lakhan Singh against Rajiv Shukla after a writ petition filed by the applicant was allowed on 22 July 2025. The State later instructed that the applicant's fair price shop license had been restored on 12 January 2026, and the applicant was operating the shop. The court examined whether the restoration of the license negated any basis for holding the applicant in contempt. Relying on the fact that the license was reinstated and the shop was functioning, the court found no ground for contempt. Consequently, the contempt application was dismissed.
