Allahabad High Court

PRATHAM KUMARversusSHRI BALA KRISHNA NARAYAN

Decided

Holding

The contempt application was dismissed as it had outlived its utility.

Summary

The High Court of Allahabad dismissed a contempt application filed by Pratham Kumar alleging willful defiance of a December 4, 2025 order in Writ‑C No. 40711/2025. The original order directed the petitioner to obtain a certified copy of a government directive concerning the control of a private ashram and to communicate it to the Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission within four weeks. The opposite party, represented by Nikhil Kumar, produced an order dated February 5, 2026 showing that the proceedings before the Commission had been concluded and the chairperson had demitted office on June 5, 2024. The court held that, in view of these developments, the contempt application had lost its purpose and was therefore consigned to the record. Consequently, the contempt petition was dismissed.
