Allahabad High Court

SAIF KHANversusGYANVEER SINGH REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICER REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE AND 5 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The court disposed of the contempt application, granting the opposite party additional time to comply with the earlier order and setting procedural steps for service, without issuing a notice.

Summary

Saif Khan filed a contempt application against the Regional Passport Officer alleging failure to comply with an order dated 29‑04‑2026 issued in Writ C No. 16034 of 2026. The applicant claimed that a copy of the order had been served but the opposite party had not acted on it. The court observed that a prima facie case of willful disobedience existed but, without issuing a notice, granted the opposite party an additional month to comply. The court directed the applicant to provide stamped envelopes for service of the order and contempt application, and instructed the office to forward the documents within a week. The opposite party was ordered to comply with the writ court’s directions and inform the applicant within a further week, failing which the applicant may approach the court again. The contempt application was therefore disposed of at this stage.
