- Decided
- Bench
- VIKAS BUDHWAR
Holding
The court may defer contempt proceedings and grant the alleged contemnor further time to comply with the original order instead of immediately imposing contempt.
Summary
Netrapal Singh filed a contempt application against Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar alleging willful non‑compliance with an order dated 04‑02‑2026 in Writ‑A No. 1555/2026 that required the police officer to decide a claim. The court noted that a prima facie case of contempt existed but chose not to issue a notice at this stage. Instead, it granted the opposite party an additional two months to comply with the original order, subject to procedural steps involving stamped envelopes and a self‑addressed envelope for communication. The court directed that if compliance is not achieved, the applicant may approach the court again. The application was therefore disposed of pending compliance.
