Holding
The contempt application is infructuous and is dismissed, and the contempt notice is discharged.
Summary
The applicant, Daya Nand Chand, filed a civil contempt application against Ram Jiyawan Maurya, a District Basic Education Officer, for allegedly failing to comply with a writ court order directing payment of a sum with interest. The writ court had ordered the officer to pay a principal amount, which had already been paid, and interest. On 15 April 2026, the High Court framed contempt charges for non‑payment of the interest. The officer later paid the interest of Rs 11,800 on 24 April 2026, and submitted an affidavit of compliance. The court held that the payment satisfied the writ order, rendering the contempt application infructuous, and consequently dismissed the contempt proceedings and discharged the notice.
