Allahabad High Court

RIDIMA RAI (MINOR) AND ANOTHERversusSTATE OF UTTAR PRADESH AND 2 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The writ petition is dismissed as withdrawn, with liberty granted to the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum later.

Summary

The petitioners, a minor named Ridima Rai and another individual, filed a criminal miscellaneous writ petition before the Allahabad High Court challenging actions of the State of Uttar Pradesh and others. The State informed the Court that the investigation was complete and a charge sheet had been filed against the petitioners. While not disputing these facts, the petitioners expressed their desire to withdraw the writ petition and seek liberty to approach the appropriate forum at a later stage. The Court considered the petitioners' request and, noting that the writ had no further purpose, dismissed the petition as withdrawn, granting the petitioners liberty to approach the appropriate forum when needed. The order was pronounced on May 18, 2026.
