Allahabad High Court
RAM NARESH MISHRAversusSTATE OF UTTAR PRADESH AND 6 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The PIL is disposed as there is no longer any ground to continue the proceedings.
Summary
Ram Naresh Mishra filed a public interest litigation (PIL No. 610 of 2026) before the Allahabad High Court seeking a direction to the State of Uttar Pradesh and other respondents to act on an inquiry report dated 5 September 2024. The report had found the respondents guilty of failing to deduct tax deducted at source (TDS) and ordered recovery of the amount from the Gram Pradhan and Gram Panchayat Sachiv. The Gram Pradhan and Sachiv complied by depositing the recovered amount. The Court examined whether any further relief was required under the PIL. Finding that the respondents had already complied with the recovery order, the Court concluded there was no basis to continue the petition. Consequently, the PIL was disposed of.
