Allahabad High Court

LAL CHANDRA PANDEYversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 5 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The petition is dismissed as infructuous.

Summary

Lal Chandra Pandey filed a writ petition (Writ‑A No. 57512 of 2017) before the Allahabad High Court challenging actions of the State of Uttar Pradesh and five other respondents. The petitioner’s counsel argued that a contemporaneous order in Writ‑A No. 11385 of 2026 and a letter dated 09‑03‑2026 from the Director of Education (Secondary), Lucknow, rendered the present petition moot. The Court examined whether the petition had become infructuous in view of those developments. Relying on the earlier order and the director’s letter, the Court concluded that there was no longer any live controversy. Consequently, the Court dismissed the petition as infructuous, granting the relief sought by the respondents. The dismissal was made without prejudice to any future rights of the petitioner.
