Allahabad High Court

IRFAN AHMADversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 4 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The petition is disposed without merit, directing that the claim for compassionate appointment be considered strictly in accordance with law.

Summary

The petitioner, Irfan Ahmad, filed a writ petition seeking a compassionate appointment after his father's death in harness in 2020, submitting a belated representation dated 19‑02‑2024. The High Court, without delving into the merits, disposed of the petition, directing that the claim for compassionate appointment be considered strictly in accordance with law. The court referred to Supreme Court judgments in Bank of Baroda & Ors. v. Baljit Singh (2023) and Malaya Nanda Sethy v. State of Orissa (2022) as guiding precedents. No substantive order on the petitioner's request was made, and the matter was left for appropriate authorities to decide per legal provisions. Consequently, the writ petition was dismissed.
