The court directed the Vice‑Chancellor to consider the petitioner’s representation expeditiously, if no legal impediment exists, and disposed of the petition.
Summary
The petitioner, Bachcha Lal, filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the Vice‑Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, to grant interest on arrears of payments due from 19‑April‑2018 to 23‑June‑2022. He claimed that he had made several representations to the university authorities but had received no response. The respondents did not dispute the existence of those representations. After hearing counsel, the Court declined to examine the merits of the claim for interest and instead issued a procedural direction that the Vice‑Chancellor consider the petitioner’s representation as expeditiously as possible, provided there is no legal impediment. The writ petition was consequently disposed without any order as to costs.
