Allahabad High Court
SHUBHAM MISHRAversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The writ petition is disposed as the complaint has been acted upon by the authorities.
Summary
The petitioner, Shubham Mishra, filed a writ petition seeking a court order directing the State respondents to conduct a spot inspection of alleged illegal mining activities and to cancel the lease granted to a third respondent. The petition relied on photographs showing mining after dark. The State, through its Chief Standing Counsel, informed the court that the complaint had been acted upon, illegal mining was detected, and remedial steps were being taken, including instructions dated 4 May 2026. The court noted that the petitioner’s information indicated that the authorities were already addressing the issue, allowing the petitioner to remain vigilant. Consequently, the court disposed of the writ petition without further orders.
Issues considered
- Whether the court should direct a spot inspection of alleged illegal mining and cancel the lease granted to the respondent.
