Allahabad High Court

ANIL SINGH AND 2 OTHERSversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 11 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent court to decide the suit expeditiously within eighteen months.

Summary

Petitioner Anil Singh and others filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the second respondent, a court, to decide suit No. 696 of 2025 pending since 2025. The petitioners alleged that despite several dates being fixed, the suit remained undecided and requested expeditious disposal. The High Court noted that the petition served no useful purpose if kept pending and, without addressing the merits of the underlying suit, ordered the respondent court to decide the case within eighteen months of the certified copy of the order, ensuring service, hearing, and evidence, and prohibiting unnecessary adjournments. The order was signed on May 6, 2026, and the petition was disposed of finally.
