Allahabad High Court
VIKRAM SINGHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 7 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The Court declined to entertain the merits but ordered the Special Land Acquisition Officer to decide the pending application within six weeks after hearing the private respondents, and disposed of the writ petition.
Summary
Vikram Singh filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus to restrain the Special Land Acquisition Officer/District Magistrate from disbursing compensation for land acquisition (Gata No.460) to any private respondents until the final disposal of Writ B No.27 of 2026, and also requested that the officer decide a representation dated 30‑03‑2026. The petition relied on an interim order of the Single Judge in Writ B No.27, which had stayed certain revenue orders. The High Court, while not addressing the merits, directed the Special Land Acquisition Officer to decide the pending representation within six weeks after giving a hearing to the private respondents (Nos.5‑7), and clarified that its observations would not prejudice any party’s rights. No notice was required to the private respondents. The writ petition was consequently disposed.
Issues considered
- Whether the High Court can issue a mandamus restraining the disbursement of land acquisition compensation pending another writ proceeding.
- Whether the Court can direct the Special Land Acquisition Officer to decide a pending representation within a specified time frame without hearing the private respondents.

placed reliance on the interim order passed by the learned Single Judge in
Writ B No. 27 of 2026, Vikram Singh vs. State of U.P. and 8 others,
wherein the petitioner claimed certain rights and learned Single Judge
entertained the aforesaid writ petition and effect and operation of the
