Allahabad High Court

RAM DIN AND ANOTHERversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The writ petition is dismissed as not pressed, with liberty to file a fresh petition.

Summary

The petitioners, Ram Din and another, filed a writ petition before the Allahabad High Court challenging an unspecified action of the State of Uttar Pradesh and other respondents. During the hearing, counsel for the petitioners, Ashutosh Mishra, on behalf of B.P. Vishwakarma, argued that the petition should be dismissed as it was not pressed, and that the petitioners could file a fresh writ if they wished. The State's Additional Chief Standing Counsel and counsel for the National Highways Authority of India raised no objection to this submission. The Court, after granting leave, dismissed the writ petition on the ground that it was not pressed, while allowing the petitioners the liberty to file a fresh petition. The order was pronounced on May 14, 2026, by Judges Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Kunal Ravi Singh.
