Allahabad High Court

DASHRATHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court disposed of the petition, directing the CRO to decide the pending proceeding expeditiously, preferably within three months, without expressing any view on the merits.

Summary

Dashrath filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of Azamgarh to decide a pending land revenue case (No. 1022 of 2026) under Section 28 of the Uttar Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1901. The petitioner argued that the proceeding, remanded on 16‑12‑2025, was not being progressed expeditiously. The Court, after hearing counsel, did not opine on the merits of the underlying land dispute but ordered the CRO to decide the matter within three months of the certified copy of the order, after giving a hearing and without unnecessary adjournments. The direction was issued to ensure prompt adjudication. The petition was consequently disposed of with the mandated direction.
