Allahabad High Court

AMIT KUMARversusSTATE OF U.P. AND ANOTHER

Decided

Holding

The petition is disposed with an observation that the respondent will consider the application in accordance with law within two months.

Summary

Petitioner Amit Kumar filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the State of U.P. to consider his application dated 04‑11‑2022 for an arms licence under the sports quota. The petitioner argued that the application was in proper format with all requisite documents. The respondent's standing counsel contended that the authority would consider the application in accordance with law if the formalities were complied with. The Court noted the submission and, without issuing a mandatory order, disposed of the petition, observing that the respondent should consider the application strictly according to law and do so expeditiously, preferably within two months after taking note of a fresh police report if required. No substantive order compelling the respondent was made.
