Allahabad High Court
SONUversusUNION OF INDIA AND 6 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The petition was disposed, directing the petitioner to comply with the guidelines of the cited judgments before the passport application can be processed.
Summary
Petitioner Sonu filed a writ petition under Article 226 seeking the disposal of his pending application for a fresh passport. The respondents argued that a show‑cause notice had been issued because a criminal case (Case Crime No. 0563 of 2022) under Sections 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC was pending against him. The Court observed that the petitioner must first comply with the procedural guidelines laid down in the earlier judgments of Rahimuddin v. Union of India (2025) and Wajiruddin Khan v. Union of India (2026). Accordingly, the petitioner was directed to follow those guidelines, after which the Regional Passport Officer should decide the passport application within the stipulated timeline. The petition was consequently disposed.
