Allahabad High Court

UTKARSH SHUKLA MINORversusUNION OF INDIA AND 5 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The court granted mandamus directing the principal to decide the representation within four weeks.

Summary

The petitioner, a minor, filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the principal of St. Xavier Intermediate School to decide a representation filed on 08.08.2026, which remained pending. The petitioner argued that the school had not rendered any decision despite the representation being due. The court examined the delay and the necessity for administrative action. It held that the school, as a public authority, must act within a reasonable time and therefore issued a direction. The court ordered the principal to decide the representation within four weeks of the certified copy of the order. The petition was disposed with the said direction.
