The petition was dismissed as the petitioner had already been promoted and could appear for the exam upon payment of fees and compliance with university formalities.
Summary
Petitioner Rais Ahmad filed a writ petition seeking a direction from the authorities to allow him to fill the examination form and pay the requisite fee for appearing in the 7th semester B.A. LL.B. examination, so he could complete the course within the stipulated time. The respondent university contended that the petitioner had already been promoted to the next semester and could appear for the exam provided he deposited the fee and complied with university formalities. The petitioner's counsel did not dispute this statement. Since the issue was resolved on the basis of the respondent's admission, the court found no matter left to consider. Consequently, the petition was disposed of without any order granting the relief sought.
