Allahabad High Court

KAMALJEET SINGHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 7 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court ordered respondent No.3 to decide the petitioner's pending application within two months, without granting any further writ relief.

Summary

The petitioner, Kamaljeet Singh, filed a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution seeking a mandamus directing the respondents to protect his life, liberty and dignity from alleged threats and harassment by certain respondents and their associates. The petition highlighted that the petitioner had already submitted an application on 29 January 2026 to respondent No.3, which remained pending. The learned Standing Counsel for the petitioner raised no objection to a direction for respondent No.3 to decide the pending application in accordance with law. The Court examined the petition and the pending representation and found no merit in further intervening beyond ordering the pending application to be decided. Consequently, the Court disposed of the writ petition, directing respondent No.3 to adjudicate the pending application within two months of the certified copy of the order. The order was pronounced by Judges Ajit Kumar and Garima Prashad on 30 September 2026.
